Reading Archers are one of the leading archery clubs in Berkshire. Affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society, the Southern Counties Archery Society and the Berkshire Archery Association.
The members meet regularly to practise their art, hone their skills and socialise.
Club nights are Tuesdays and Fridays during the outdoor season (May to October) at Crosfields School. Shooting starts at 6.00 PM and continues until dusk.
During the indoor season members shoot on Fridays over 20 yards at Maiden Erleigh School. Sighters are at 7.15 PM .
Visitors are welcome but please contact enquiries@readingarchers.co.uk before coming to either venue. Directions to both venues are given on the "find us" page.
The club has a very full shooting calendar. During the summer it contests eight closed club competitions which, with the exception of the club championship are shot under handicap.
Through the winter there are monthly outdoor Frostbites to be shot and to make things interesting the club enters two teams into postal competitions.
Indoors the club normally shoots the Portsmouth round. Some members occasionally choose to shoot Vegas or Worcester rounds. Competition comes in the form of the closed club championship, which is shot under handicap, and monthly postal Portsmouth rounds for which two teams are entered.
Additionally the members support a number of open shoots around the area.
Reading Archers are exclusively a target shooting club although the wilder tendencies are indulged once a year when a double clout is shot.
We can normally offer sessions catering for 10 people, greater numbers by negotiation. Several members of the club of various degrees of experience will be present to offer instruction, advice and refreshments.
We have sessions arranged for the following dates, on which there are still a few spaces available.
Saturday 21st June at 2pm
Saturday 5th July at 2pm
Wednesday 16th July at 6.30pm - This session is now full
