Novice archers

In keeping with the club’s aims of promoting Archery, we run two beginners courses every year the first in late spring, the second in early summer.

Both courses are held outdoors over four consecutive weeks. Instruction is given by experienced archers and all equipment is provided by the club.

For a modest fee the attendees are taught the safe use of the bow and the fundamentals of shooting technique. It is important to us that they should also have enjoyed several hours in a very sociable atmosphere trying out a sport that is, in most cases, completely different from any that they would normally play.

Attendance of the course is a condition of any novice archer joining the club, as it is proof of competence.

The courses for 2010 will be held on four consecutive evenings between :-

First course - 26th May to 16th June - FULL

Second course - 7th June to 28th June - FULL

Third course - 7th July to 28th July - FULL

Experienced archers

Experienced archers who are current members of the GNAS will normally be accepted as club members without attending the beginners course but may along with those who’s GNAS membership has lapsed be asked to demonstrate competence to the committee.

If you are an experienced archer wishing to join the club, again contact us by email at membership@readingarchers.co.uk stating your name and telephone number. A committee member will contact you to discuss joining.
